Jean Kenney Combs brings over 20 years of progressively responsible experience in the nonprofit and higher education sectors, with a strong background in finance and budget management, grant writing and administration, operations, human resources, and strategic event planning. Her proven track record of organizational leadership, paired with a deep commitment to community engagement and development, aligns closely with the mission and goals of USMSM.

In her current role, Jean serves as the primary support to the Executive Director, overseeing key functions such as board relations, travel coordination, event production, and communications. She works closely with the marketing team to enhance the organization's digital presence and has successfully led numerous center events through strategic planning and targeted outreach.

Jean's previous leadership roles include positions in development and operations at Calvert Memorial Hospital Foundation, St. Mary’s Ryken High School, Patuxent Habitat for Humanity, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maryland. Each role has sharpened her expertise in managing complex projects, stewarding donor relationships, and utilizing data systems to drive meaningful results.

She is highly experienced in supervising staff, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, including board members, funders, volunteers, and community partners.

Jean earned her Associate of Arts degree from the College of Southern Maryland and continued her education at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), with a concentration in Management Studies.
