USMSM Appoints a New Chair-Elect for its Board of Advisors

The University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland is pleased to announce its new Board of Advisors: Dr. Christine Bergmark, Dr. Bernard Jackson, Dr. Maria Navarro, Ms. Julie Oberg, Mr. Jason Szklany, Dr. Johnnie Taylor, and Dr. Andrae Townsel.
Senator Ben Cardin and House Majority Speaker Steny Hoyer, Visit the USMSM Campus
Senator Ben Cardin and House Majority Speaker Steny Hoyer, as well as representatives from Senator Van Hollen's office, came to the USMSM campus on Monday, May 23rd to tour the new SMART building, and to learn how USMSM is growing educational access and connecting the research done at University of Maryland Clark School of Engineering on autonomous technologies to that being done at NAS Patuxent River. Engineering students showcased some of their drones and robots.
What Employers Want Out of College Grads
Navigating the transition from an environment of higher education to that of the workforce can daunt current and potential college students. Without forward-thinking and proper planning, students may fear walking out of the classroom setting and into the interview process. The desire to stand out in a sea of applicants with similar educational backgrounds raises questions, including: What are employers really looking for from graduates? How can students take an early and proactive approach to prepare for this?

We all start our correspondences these days with “I hope you are well,” but it is indeed a heartfelt sentiment even if common. It is no less heartfelt now as we talk about what that means for us to be back on campus—in person!—for classes and events. As part of the University System of Maryland, managed by the University of Maryland, USMSM will maintain a couple protocols as we emerge from our isolation.
