Commitment to Our USMSM Community

Dear USMSM community,

We are pleased to announce that USMSM has officially resumed limited activities at our facility. Our Return to Campus (RTC) Plan was approved by the University System of Maryland (USM) and reviewed by the St. Mary’s County Health Department which stated our plan was “well thought out, efficient and comprehensive.” Our plan in its entirety can be found on our website.

Our primary goal is to ensure the health and safety of all those utilizing our facility while keeping our commitment to continued educational excellence. With this in mind, and using CDC, State, and USM guidelines, we have set up policies and procedures to help keep this goal. This includes health screening, the requirement of a face covering while in our facilities, social distancing and extensive cleaning and sanitizing of our spaces after each use.

Until the start of the fall semester, our temporary hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. We have pre-set all of our class/event rooms classroom style with the 6 feet social distancing requirements as well as designated entryways and exits for each building. A copy of our campus map showing these designated entries and exits as well as preferred parking based on same as well the ongoing construction of the third building can also be found on our website.

While we hope to maintain and even increase the services we provide, we must also keep in mind that the current situation is very fluid, and circumstances could change. We will do our best to keep everyone informed and wish continued health and well-being to our USMSM community.

Stay safe.

Sincerely,
Ben O. Latigo, Ph.D.
Interim Executive Director and Chief Academic Officer
